Advising

The Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering advising team helps current students navigate through their degree plans and the transition into college life. New students should visit the undergraduate office in the department of their major, meet the staff associated with the office and get acquainted with the procedures. Due to COVID-19, the advising team is offering both virtual and in-person advising.

Starting August 23, advisors are available for scheduled one-on-one virtual (Zoom) appointments Monday-Friday and scheduled one-on-one in-person appointments Monday-Wednesday. Book an appointment here.

Additionally, we will offer virtual drop-in advising (via Zoom) starting August 16 (with some exceptions, please see below).

Student Responsibilities

As noted in the Cockrell School of Engineering Handbook, each student must be informed about all pertinent rules and regulations and must abide by them at all times. Academic advisors are available to assist students, but the ultimate responsibility for being informed rests with the student. Please review the policies and procedures that apply to undergraduate students.

Tutoring

The Cockrell School of Engineering provides various opportunities for students to receive academic support via personalized tutoring and academic community centers. The school offers tutoring by department, drop-in tutoring via Engineering Study Tables in the new Engineering Education and Research Center (EER) and scheduled appointments through Engineering Student Services. For more information on tutoring times and locations, visit ENGR Direct Students. To schedule a tutoring appointment, visit the Online Appointment Book.
