Tess J. Moon is Professor and Temple Foundation Endowed Faculty Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Doctoral alumni include professors at the U.S Naval Academy, University of Panama, and Huafan University, Taiwan, as well as staff at Cisco, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc., Taipei; Samsung and Hyundai Motor Company, Korea. Moon received the Ph.D. in 1989 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champain, and has co-authored 42 archival journal articles, 31 refereed conference articles, 6 archival journal abstracts and 34 non-refereed conference articles. Honors include the W. A. "Tex" Moncrief Grand Challenge Faculty Award, NSPE Education Excellence Award, a JSPS visiting fellowship at the University of Tokyo, visiting professorship at the Universität Leipzig, as well as the Engineering Foundation and NSF Young Investigator Awards. Moon co-founded a Master of Science in Engineering degree with an emphasis engineering management at University of Texas at Austin. Moon is also a co-founder of Central Texas Ground Source Heat Pump Systems Consortia, which promotes geothermal energy recovery in the southwest, and she also spent two years (1983-1984) as a design engineer with AMP Incorporated.
