Emma Fan

Emma Fan, professor in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering, joins the 2025 class of Senior Members of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

The NAI is a member organization comprising U.S. and international universities; governmental agencies; and non-profit research institutes. Currently, there are over 4,600 individual members, including Fellows, Senior Members, and Chapter Members, affiliated with more than 260 institutions worldwide.

Senior Members are active employees or faculty, scientists and administrators with success in patents, licensing and commercialization and have produced technologies that brought or have the potential to bring real impact on the welfare of society.

The 2025 class of Senior Members will be celebrated during the Senior Member Induction Ceremony at NAI’s 14th Annual Conference taking place June 23-26th, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Fan holds the Robert & Jane Mitchell Endowed Faculty Fellowship in Engineering and is a member of the Texas Materials Institute at UT Austin. Fan is also a recipient of two prestigious National Science Foundation awards, the NSF MidCareer Advancement Award (2022) and the NSF Career Award (2012).
