Much like NSF’s Faculty Early Career Development Program known as CAREER, the Mid-Career program helps ensure the health and vitality of science at a sensitive career stage. It aims to offer an opportunity for scientists and engineers at the mid-career stage to substantively advance their research program and career trajectory.

“This award will support me in prototyping a novel on-chip biosensing scheme innovated by my lab for its commercialization. It not only supports my research but also propels me to enter a new career realm in translational research via partnership and business training,” says Fan.

Fan is the first recipient of this award in the Cockrell School of Engineering. She also received the NSF CAREER Award in 2012.
