About
Yashaswini Murthy is an Assistant Professor in the Operations Research andIndustrial Engineering program at The University of Texas at Austin. Her researchdevelops and analyzes reinforcement learning algorithms for long-term decision-making under uncertainty, with particular emphasis on average-reward, robust,risk-sensitive, and multi-agent formulations. Her broader interests include appliedprobability, stochastic control, and optimization, with applications to networkedand resource-constrained systems.
Before joining UT Austin, Dr. Murthy was a postdoctoral scholar in Computing andMathematical Sciences at the California Institute of Technology, where she was arecipient of the PIMCO Postdoctoral Fellowship. She earned her Ph.D. in Electricaland Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign andher B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute ofTechnology Bombay, where she specialized in control and automation.
