IMPACT Lab

The IMPACT Lab is a research laboratory within the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin dedicated to better understanding the mechanics and design of materials, processing, structures and systems.

Our current research focuses on the mechanics and behavior of polymer composites, notably polymer nanocomposites (e.g. nano-filled polymers, active nanostructures) and eukaryotic cells' cytoskeleton (e.g. myosin-activated actin cytoskeleton, cytoskeletal dynamics).
