Since its founding in 1913, the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering has been a national leader in engineering education. In order to maintain our focus on developing future industry and academic leaders, maximizing our research capabilities and strengthening our national position, we need the continued support of our extraordinary alumni and friends.

Make an Annual Gift to the Department

Every year, gifts from alumni, parents, faculty, staff and others provide a vital stream of flexible funding that sustains and enhances the Mechanical Engineering student experience. Known as Friends of Alec, the Cockrell School's generous annual fund supporters help to strengthen our academic programs and address immediate needs in the school and departments.

Show your support for the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering, our students and our faculty by making a gift — of any size — to the department.

Support the Department's Five-Year Fundraising Campaign

In 2013, the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering celebrated its 100-year anniversary as an engineering program at UT Austin. To kickoff the centennial, the department launched a five-year, $5 million fundraising effort to recruit top students and support the undergraduate experience. The campaign focuses on two primary initiatives:

  • 35-in-5 Women in Mechanical Engineering: This initiative seeks to achieve 35 percent female enrollment by 2018. Learn more »
  • Excellence in Undergraduate Education: This initiative seeks to increase research stipends, upgrade facilities and expand project-centered education. Learn more »
